Why do the Lakers fans assume D. Howard will go there in a sign and trade package?
I think if anything the Hornets (if they resign D. West) and the Trail Blazers who can offer Lamarcus Aldridge and Andre Miller will have better pieces. Why would the Magic want a broken down Center. If anything Gasol and Bynum would both have to be involved in the package to get D. Howard and Arenas which would move Kobe to SF.
Listen. Mitch Kupchak wouldn't give up Gasol and Bynum though it'd be intriguing if he'd trade Bynum. First, the Lakers starting 5 and Odom for me are untouchable though if the Magic would ask Bynum for Howard I think Kupchak would think twice though he wouldn't give anybody else in the "Starting 5 and Odom". The reason why Gasol and Bynum would be traded for Howard is that they'd lose 2 of the top 10 big men for one big man despite of dominance and the things he bring cause the Lakers would lose depth. Second, the Lakers wouldn't want Arenas' fat contract and the Lakers already have a ball-dominating player in Kobe, why would the Lakers lose 2 centers for 1 and get a guard who the Lakers doesn't need, the Lakers need a solid point, not a streaking scoring guard. Third, the Lakers wouldn't break their core cause they have been in the Finals 3 years in a row and is in a quest for a Three-peat, there'd be no reason to trade Bynum if unless it'd be a trade in which the Lakers would benefit most. And did I tell you Kupchak wouldn't trade Gasol? Last but certainly not least, when was the last time Kupchak made a trade and got the shorter end of the stick? Even the Shaq trade was a better trade for the Lakers than the Heat. Kupchak is smart enough not to trade 2 of their core players for a top 3 center and a not-so-useful-for-the-Lakers guard in Arenas. If anything it'd be smart for Orlando to trade for Bynum plus a couple of guys for Howard cause they wouldn't want to lose Howard for nothing. (Remember Cleveland? Denver and Utah too traded their superstar for less, well atleast they got something unlike Cleveland which had charity picks for losing LeBron cause that was a free agent signing, not a trade.) If there'd be a trade for Howard, it would involve Bynum, maybe Blake, maybe Brown, maybe Ebanks and a lot of picks.
I Couldn't have said it better.
